Chelsea is very close to completing a loan deal to bring Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix to the club.

Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid is close to making a loan move to Chelsea for the remainder of the season.

The 23-year-old started five of Portugal’s six World Cup games and scored once.

Despite interest from Arsenal and Manchester United, Felix is reportedly hoping to join the Blues instead.

When Atletico Madrid paid Benfica £113 million for Felix in 2019, he became the sixth most expensive player in history. Felix was only 19 at the time.

Felix has had moments of brilliance, but he has yet to consistently perform at a high level.

The Blues have fallen to 10th in the Premier League and were blown out by Manchester City, 4-0, in the FA Cup on Sunday. So owner Todd Boehly is looking to add to manager Graham Potter’s injury-plagued team.

Since being eliminated from the World Cup in the quarterfinals, Felix has made two appearances for Atletico.

Before Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Barcelona, he scored in a 2-0 win against Elche on December 29.

Felix has contributed to Atletico’s success on the pitch by scoring five times and assisting on three more goals in 20 games this season.
